Virginia's Internet Capital plate design might be one of the ugliest designs the Commonwealth offers.
It seemed like it'd be fun to get that license plate and register a site that matches the actual
plate number (since the plate actually already includes the .com at the end).
What inspired this?
Virginia offers many designs of personalized license plates and pushes them fairly heavily during the online process for registration renewal. In general, personalized license plates seem fairly common in Virginia. Some designs are more popular than others, and Internet Capital seemed like it was maybe one of the less popular ones. Its ugliness and 1999-ness is certainly a large part of its charm.
Why this domain?
I didn't customize the license plate number; I let the DMV assign me a plate and decided to register whatever domain was shown on the plate that I was given.
Is Virginia the Internet Capital?
Virginia certainly thought so in 1999, and there's no signs that view has changed!
